Most of this information is stolen from Grease's Imperium Shawl references, Eqtraders, and Mogelo then compiled here as I did the shawl quests, hence there may be more efficient or better way to get some of the items involved that I am unaware of. So let me know if you have a better way to do any of the steps and I will update it.
I would recommend to buy many Water Flasks right at the beginning to save time buying them during the crafting. That way you can just ignore the water flask steps in the guide. You could also buy several Shoulderpad Patterns as several of the recipes call for those as well.

Quest - Runescale Cloak
You need to kill and collect a rune of scale from each of the below monsters. They are unique from each zone even though they don't say so on the item, so you can't loot them all from the same zone.

You need the Lizardscale Cloak from the Tae Ew Templar - #zone feerrott -66 -933 -5
He spawns ontop of the pyramid to the right when facing Cazic Thule and any of the mobs can be a place holder for him
He is a rare spawn and is not guaranteed to drop the cloak. Id recommend pulling that pyramid killing all the mobs
and continue working forward while waiting on respawn. This can take several hours of farming to get.

Combine 1 Distilled salts with the each of the tongues in the Vaifan's Pocket Sampling Device to turn them into a Sample instead of a tongue.

Make sure to turn in the samples one at a time in individual trades.
After turning in all the samples you may need to hail her again to receive the research manual and once more to get the Assistant Researcher's Symbol.

This part of the quest can take as long as all the previous parts of the shawl quest combined. Its is recommend just rotating all the locations in the shopping list while you are waiting on zones to respawn to save time as it can take awhile to get alot of these drops. Specifically the glowing worm bile takes quite a long time.

Travel to #zone thurgadina 800 -343 -15, Verify that Grand Historian Thoridain is in the room. Then repeatedly say "Oh Brell, Thank you for protecting me and seeing me through my trials. Forgive me for the things I think and say and do that displease you. Please reveal to me your will and bless me with the patience and obedience to do that which you desire. Amen."
You will receive a message saying "You have been inspired. The sacred pattern of the Coldain rune materializes on the ground before you." It should drop an Etched Rune pattern onto your mouse.
Combine Burin, Blank Rune, and Etched Rune Pattern in a fletching kit. You will receive Burin and an Etched Rune back.
Show your Etched Rune to Grimthor by the brew barrel in Thurgadin. He will give the Etched Rune back. - #zone thurgadina -390 105 0

Combine Encasied Velium Etched Rune, Runed Prayer Shawl Pattern, and Your Embroidered Coldain Prayer shawl in a Loom to receive Runed Coldain Prayer Shawl.
Give your shawl to Loremaster Solstrin Rceive the Shawl back as well as an Empty Coldain Issue Kit- #zone thurgadinb 210 730 -43
Hang onto the shawl until we fill the box in section 8 before turning the shawl in.

Follow General Bragmur and fight the 5 encounters Careful with AoEs as they will hit him. If he dies you will have to remake the entire Standard issue kit and do the escort quest again. I found it was
easiest to do this with a Warrior as my Necro main took too long to kill them casting drain life spells. He dies fairly quickly to the frost giants that spawn so just be prepared and use your fastest casting
direct damage spells. Trust me you really dont want to have to do this 3 times like I did! Maybe if you were better at controlling your pet it would work out fine that way as well.
