Unlock Gates of Discord

Summary

To obtain the Key to Discord you will need to get the key fragment from Quarm, a 4-headed dragon in the Plane of Time (potimeb). While this may sound easy, to even reach the Plane of Time you must make your way through all of the planes in the Planes of Power expansion.

After obtaining the key you will be given access to the following Gates of Discord zones:

• Natimbi (Magelo)
• Qinimi (Magelo)
• Riwwi (Magelo)
• Ferubi (Magelo)
• Barindu (Magelo)
• Abysmal Sea (Magelo)

Skipping Zones

You can skip all the zones except the Planes of Water, Air, Fire, Earth and Time by getting a Rune of Progression. You can only obtain the rune on a character that has completed the Planes of Progression and has not used the steps below to get a Rune of Progression before.

To obtain and use the rune do the following steps. Player A is the character that is getting the rune and player B is the character that will use the rune to skip progression.

1. On player A:
   • Kill Guardian of Coirnav (#zone powater -685 1094 -499). After it dies, hail Essence of Water to get Sphere of Coalesced Water.
   • Kill all 12 A Rathe Councilman (#zone poearthb 2049 629 -205), then kill Avatar of Earth. After it dies, hail Essence of Earth to get Mound of Living Stone.
   • Kill Guardian of Doomfire to start an event (#zone pofire -162 -1251 -181). This will spawn several enemies along the bridges. Kill all of them all the way until Fennin Ro spawns, then kill him. After he dies, hail Essence of Fire to get Globe of Dancing Flame.
   • Kill Xegony the Queen of Air (#zone poair -559 -137 1456). After she dies, hail Essence of Air to get Amorphous Cloud of Air.
   • Go to A Planar Projection in potimea (#zone potimea 16 -97 13). Give it the Sphere of Coalesced Water, Mound of Living Stone, Globe of Dancing Flame, and Amorphous Cloud of Air in a single trade. You will get Rune of Progression.
   • Give the rune to player B
2. On player B (the one that you want to skip progression and that you gave the rune to):
   • Give Rune of Progression to Vinz Clortho (#zone guildlobby 68 348 10).

The player that turned in the rune to Vinz now has all the planes unlocked except for Plane of Time. To get access to Plane of Time they must follow the normal progression as explained in this post.

Once that player has completed progression they can fast track another character by doing the steps above.

Everquest Live

The Planes of Power was Everquest's 4th expansion and was released on October 29, 2002. It was targeted to higher level characters. It introduced the Plane of Knowledge which included a new portal system allowing players to travel around the world much easier (to the dismay of Wizards and Druids everywhere).
